Spring is a nature thing – the buds burst, the birds sing, the bees, the flowers, the sap rises, and so on. But spring has noticeable effects in urban environments as well – fingers thaw, nights gets lighter, spray cans rattle, walls gain color. It’s sort of a perverted imitation of the wonders of nature. When working in an area where the cold, wind and rain are more than just rare exceptions, you really learn to appreciate the bliss of sun-warmed walls, ample light and paint that dries up fast enough to enable two layers in time to avoid the sirens. Now it’s time to use gloves only to avoid paint stains, not to stop the cans from freezing on to the skin of your palms.
